The verdict is in.
Actress Lupita Nyong’o is People Magazine’s most beautiful person for 2014.
On Wednesday, the annual list was revealed on NBC’s the Today show, along with this week’s cover of the magazine displaying the Academy Award-winner right in the center of it.
“It is exciting and just a major, major compliment,” Nyong’o told People. “I was happy for all the girls who would see me on it and feel a little more seen.”
The Mexican-born Kenyan actress also told the popular magazine that she “never dreamed” of being praised for her looks.
2014 continues to be a big year for the 31-year-old actress. Besides winning the Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in “12 Years A Slave,” Nyong’o has also been named the new face of Lancome Paris.
Still, Nyong’o told Today’s Savannah Guthrie she was flattered by People Magazine’s selection.
“I’m flattered, but flattered sounds like such a flighty word, you know?” she said. “I’m flattered with, like, gravitas under it.”
This year’s most beautiful list also includes actresses Kerry Washington, Gabrielle Union, Keri Russell and Mindy Kaling along with singer Pink and former professional wrestler Stacy Keibler.
Nyong’o joins Hollywood royalty such as Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce who have also been named the most beautiful person by People Magazine.
