Record Number of Students Seeking Financial Aid

Financial Aid

As the cost of going to college keeps getting higher and higher, the number of students asking for financial aid has also gone up.

That number has reached a new high, particularly in California.

Según The Sacramento Bee, over the last six school years, the number of Californians submitting a federal financial aid application jumped nearly 74 percent.

That is a major increase from 2006-07 when the percentage of Cal State and University of California freshman who received financial aid was 57. In 2011-12, that number went up to 72 percent.

Pero, don’t let these stats stop you from getting a higher education.

Teachers, counselors and education experts are all encouraging those who want to go to college but can’t afford to do so to submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible.

Deadline to apply is March 2.
