Singer and songwriter Bruno Mars ha sido coronado Billboard’s Artist of the Year.
According to Billboard, el cantante tuvo gran presencia en los charts throughout the year.
“Mars’ artist of the year nod may come as a surprise,” Billboard wrote on its last issue of the year. “But as if on a stealth mission, the adventurous ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ commanded a steady presence on the Billboard 200 following its No. 2 debut last December.”
According to the magazine and Nielsen SoundScan, to date, ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ ha vendido 1.8 million copies.
Además de record sales, Billboard also factors in performance on the Hot 100 singles chart, the artist’s touring revenue and Social 50 chart activity and ringtone sales.
Following Mars, Taylor Swift took the number two spot on the list with Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis rounding off the top five.
