Still need a way to celebrate Earth Day this year? Take a selfie.
Yes, a selfie. That is what the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) wants you to do.
NASA is inviting everyone this year to take part in its “Global Selfie” event.
To participate simply head outside, anywhere, take a selfie and post it onto Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and/or any other of your social media networks with the hashtag #GlobalSelfie.
It’s that easy!
The purpose of this to not only bring awareness of the Earth, but to also let people know if the five satellites that NASA will be launching this year.
“NASA astronauts brought home the first ever images of the whole planet from space,” reads the NASA website. “Now NASA satellites capture new images of Earth every second. For Earth Day we are trying to create an image of Earth from the ground up while also fostering a collection of portraits of the people on Earth Day.”
This means your picture with the hashtag #GlobalSelfie will be used to create a mosaic image of Earth called “Blue Marble.”
