After an hours-long standoff at his home yesterday, singer Chris Brown was arrested by the LAPD for assault with a deadly weapon.
The drama began early Tuesday morning around 3 a.m. when a woman called 9-1-1 from Brown’s residence on the 5000 block of Corbin Avenue in Tarzana, saying the singer pulled a gun on her during a moment of rage. Brown would not let responding officers in, demanding a warrant. By 9 a.m., a SWAT team and Brown’s high-profile attorney Mark Geragos had arrived at the scene. Around 12:30 p.m., LAPD officers had obtained a search warrant and entered the house. Aerial news footage from the scene showed Brown exiting the home and speaking with officers.
Just after 5 p.m., LAPD officials announced that Brown was taken into custody at his home and would be taken downtown to be arrested and processed. LAPD Public Information Officer Rosario Herrera told LAist that Brown was the only person at the residence being arrested.
The alleged victim of the incident, Miss California Regional 2016 Baylee Curran, said she was hanging out in Brown’s hot tub before he allegedly pointed a gun at her. Curran then told TMZ that Brown got angered when she was admiring a piece of jewelry being displayed by one of Brown’s friends, and the singer told her to “get the f— out.” Curran left Brown’s home, after declining to sign an NDA she says, and called 9-1-1.
According to various reports, Chris Brown is still being processed for booking. So, no word on how much his bail will be or how long he’ll be arrested.
