This season is Vin Scully‘s final year as announcer for the Dodgers, but if one councilman has his way you will hear about Vin Scully for years to come.
Council member Gil Cedillo introduced a motion on Tuesday that would rename a short stretch of Elysian Park Avenue in Scully’s honor.
The two blocks from Sunset Boulevard to Stadium Way lead to Dodger Stadium. If approved, they would be renamed Vin Scully Avenue.
Vin Scully is a true L.A. icon and he’s loved by Dodgers fans. Scully has been with the Dodgers since their Brooklyn days. He’s been broadcasting for the team for 66 years, that’s history made. No other broadcaster has been with a team that long. We say, Vin deserves the recognition.
This what Councilmember Cedillo said:
Scully currently calls most Dodger home games (and selected road games). He is known for his dulcet voice, lyrically descriptive style, and signature introduction to Dodger games: “It’s time for Dodger baseball! Hi, everybody, and a very pleasant good (day/evening) to you, wherever you may be.
We may not be part of the City Council, but we approve of this recognition. What do you think?
