The 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards were held last night in Miami and it was a spectacular for Gente de Zona, Nicky Jam, Enrique Iglesias and Romeo Santos.
Enrique Iglesias and Nicky Jam took home the most awards with seven each. Romeo Santos took home five awards including Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Male and Artist of the Year. Gente de Zona took home two awards including Tropical Song of the Year. Shakira took home two awards including Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Female.
In addition to the awards, there were some spectacular performances. As part of the event’s “Duets” theme, Nicky Jam teamed up with Zion & Lennox for an unforgettable performance of his single “Hasta El Amanecer” (Until Dawn). Gente de Zona and Farruko joined forces for “Algo Contigo” (Something With You), while Víctor Manuelle and Yandel brought the audience to its feet during the debut of the single “Imaginar” (Imagine). Marc Anthony and Natalia Jiménez gave a powerful rendition of some of Marco Antonio Solis’s biggest hits, while Luis Coronel partnered with Jesse & Joy for one of their songs. Ha-Ash ignited their single “Lo Aprendí de Ti” (I Learned it From You) alongside Kany García, Fanny Lu, and pianistArthur Hanlon. Meanwhile, Gerardo Ortíz and Alejandra Guzmán duetted on “Fuiste Mía” (You Were Mine).
