Grammys Recap: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Daft Punk Win Big

Last night at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, it was all about duos. 

Music’s biggest duos such as Daft Punk and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis not only took home the biggest but also took home the most awards of the night with four each. 

Hip-hop twosome Macklemore & Ryan Lewis swept the rap categories by winning in every category they were nominated in. Besides being named Best New Artist, they also won Best Rap Performance for their song, “Thrift Shop” which also won them Best Rap Song. Lastly, they also won Best New Album for “The Heist.” 

Por su parte, the French music duo Daft Punk ganó Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronica Album for “Random Access Memories.” 

También ganaron Record of the Year for song that has been on everyone’s heads at one time or the other, “Get Lucky.” The popular song also helped them win Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. 

New Zealand singer and songwriter was also a big winner llevandose Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her hit song “Royals” which also won Song of the Year. 

Pero among all the amazing performances that included Pink, Katy Perry, Metallica y Nine Inch Nails, one of the best moments of the night was when 33 couples got married during the event in a ceremony dada por Queen Latifah. The wedding ceremony included both gay and straight couples. At the end, Madonna sang “Open Your Heart” to a cheering crowd. 

No doubt, this will be a Grammy Awards night that will be remembered.
