For many, Jennifer Lopez is already an icon.
In the 20-plus years that she’s been on the spotlight, the 44-year-old from The Bronx has already established herself as a singer, actress, dancer, fashion designer, TV personality, entrepreneur and philanthropist.
Pues ahora, JLo will officially have “icon” next to her name.
During this year’s Billboard Music Awards, Lopez will receive the Icon Award, the popular magazine has announced.
“The Icon Award is the BBMA’s ultimate honor,” Billboard reports. “The accolade recognizes lifetime achievement and an artist’s remarkable and enduring contribution to popular music.”
With this award, JLo is also making history.
Según Billboard, Lopez will be the first woman to receive the award y sólo la cuarta artist to do so.
Past winners include Prince, Neil Diamond y Stevie Wonder.
“Jennifer Lopez is one of the most iconic performers of her generation,” le dijo Larry Klein, Billboard Music Award producer a la revista. “We are thrilled to honor her historic career with the 2014 Icon Awards and will be on the edge of our seats like everyone else when she takes the stage.”

JLo has been working on a new album y she will debut su nuevo single “First Love” during the awards ceremony.
She will also be taking the stage with Pitbull to perform the official anthem of this year’s FIFA World Cup, “We Are One (Ole Ola).”
The 2014 Billboard Music Awards will be held adentro del MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 18. They will air live on ABC empezando a las 8 p.m. ET.
