Superstar Jennifer Lopez has been honored for her work as an advocate for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community.
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation organization also known simply as GLAAD announced on Monday que J.Lo se llevará this year’s Vanguard Award recipient.
Every year during the GLAAD Media Awards, the Vanguard Award is presented to an artist or to media professionals quien ha trabajado to increase the view y understanding of the LGBT community.
Lopez’ work as executive producer for ABC Family’s “The Fosters” have earned her the honor este año. “The Fosters,” which is also nominated for a GLAAD Media Award, is a drama series about a lesbian couple who have biological, adopted and foster kids.
“Through her work to bring “The Fosters” to life and by consistently speaking out as a powerful ally, Jennifer Lopez has not only sent a message of acceptance to LGBT adults and young people but inspired new support for our community among her many fans around the globe,” said Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD CEO and president. “Family if about love, and that’s a message Jennifer has shared with millions through her groundbreaking work on “The Fosters”.”

J.Lo will officially receive her award during the GLADD Media Awards ceremony which will be held at the Beverly Hilton on April 12. Another awards ceremony is scheduled in New York City in May.
