L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti Explains 101 Closure with ‘Slowjam’

Leave it to Los Angeles, mayor Eric Garcetti to explain the 101 freeway closure with a sultry slow jam.

You may be asking yourself, “WHY?.” As you may know by now, the iconic Sixth Street Bridge is now closed due to it being demolished and replaced with something that has a better chance of withstanding an earthquake. Part of that process is the brief shutdown of a 2.5-mile stretch of the 101 Freeway. So, the mayor decided to make a “101 Slow Jam” music video in light of this momentous and frustrating occasion.

The music video features students from Roosevelt High School in Boyle Heights, they play instruments while the Mayor smoothly explains the road closures. You can watch the video, below.

The 101 will close for 40 hours this weekend, so we’re getting ready to take it slow. We teamed up with our friends at Roosevelt High School to drop a slow jam and get the word out.
