Community college students, say “Hello” to your new chancellor.
His name is Francisco Rodriguez and he is currently the superintendent as well as president of the MiraCosta Community College District in Oceanside.
Earlier this week the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Board of Trustees appointed him to run the largest community college district in the United States.
Rodriguez told the Los Angeles Daily News that student success is his number one priority as he prepares to take on his new position. HIs number two priority “is to ensure campuses have what they need to deliver high-quality academic programs.”
The 51-year-old will be taking on a community college district that has struggled a lot in the last few years, mainly with budget cuts and low graduation rates.
He will be replacing Adriana Barrera, interim chancellor of the LACCD. Barrera took the position last July after Daniel LaVista resigned.
Rodriguez will officially become chancellor of the LACCD on June 1st.
