El nuevo centro comercial, which will be called the Westfield Village at Topanga is a $350 million project that has been in the works for sometime. It will be located at Topanga Canyon Blvd. and Victory Blvd..
On hand for the official ground breaking ceremony were local politicians and more than 200 guests.
“Its huge,” said Bob Blumenfield, Los Angeles City Councilman. “It’s really going to be best in class. It’s going to be a destination and that’s the thing to remember. It’s not just for us in the West Valley but for folks from Thousand Oaks, Agoura and the Westside.”
Much unlike the other malls in the area: the Westfield Topanga to the north and the Westfield Promenade to the south, this mall will be on an open air environment and pedestrian-friendly rather than an enclosed one.
Imaginense something like The Grove or The Americana at Brand.
The Westfield Village at Topanga will have approximately 100 business for shoppers to go to. A Costo and a gas station have already been confirmed to be station in the area.
También habrá new jobs because of the new mall. Katy Dickey, the company’s spokesperson said the new project will create about 1,400 construction jobs and approximately 1,500 direct jobs.
Traffic has been a concern for many since the idea of the project began pero Westfield has said que more traffic lanes will be added to the streets in the area. También, turn pockets and new traffic signals will be added to the surrounding streets.
The new mall is scheduled to open the fall of 2015.
