Bachata superstar Romeo Santos has been recognized for all of the ‘cancioncitas de amor’ that he has composed throughout his career.
On Tuesday, the 32-year-old singer was named Songwriter of the Year at the 22nd Annual American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Latin Music Awards in New York.
He shares this award with guitarist and producer Andrés Castro, who also won the award.
It is hits such as “Propuesta Indecente,” “Loco,” “Llévame Contigo,” and “Debate De 4” that have helped Santos gain that title. Last month, he scored the top-selling debut on the Top Latin Albums chart in eight years with his latest material “Formula, Vol. 2,” según Billboard.
However, the King of Bachata is no stranger to this award. This is the fourth time Santos is granted the title of Compositor Del Año by the ASCAP.
Por su parte, it was the first ASCAP award for Castro who has composed songs such as “Bailar Contigo,” “Darte Un Beso,” “and Volví a Nacer.” He is best known for co-writing number one hits with Colombian singer Carlos Vives.
The Big Boss Daddy Yankee was also recognized for his musical talents at the star-studded gala. He took home two awards including Latin Song of the Year for his hit single “Limbo” and Voice of Music.
Overall, awards were given to the most performed Latin songs of 2013 in the pop, tropical, urban, regional Mexican and television categories.
