Shakira Is Leaving “The Voice”

Latina singer and songwriter Shakira is saying “adios” to “The Voice.”

After being on the popular NBC singing competition show for the past two years, the Columbian singer said earlier this week that she will not be returning for the eighth season.

“This was always a temporary thing for me to do,” said Shakira. “For now, no, I don’t have any plans of coming back.”

The reason, she said, is her busy schedule. Not only is the 37-year-old busy with her 15-month-old son, Milan, pero also with the release of her 10th studio album that she released in March. Shakira admitted that she just does not have time for the TV show anymore.

“Honestly, I’ve had a blast,” she said. “But right now, I have to go on with my life as an artist. I’m not really a TV celebrity and I have to prep a tour and also do other stuff, like being a mother.”

Shaki has briefly left the show in the past during Season 5 to work on her new self-titled album.

So can fans still hold on to the hope of seeing Shakira in the hot red chair again?

“You never know,” she said when asked about the possibility of one day returning to her duties as a coach.

As for the show’s Season 7, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams will be joining regular coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. They will be replacing Christina Aguilera, who will be on maternity leave and CeeLo Green, who has announced his departure from the show.
